THERE has been another change in the Worcester City boardroom following the resignation of Keith Stokes-Smith.
He stepped down before Monday’s Worcestershire FA Senior Cup semi-final against Kidderminster Harriers.
Stokes-Smith’s resignation reduces the number on the St George’s Lane board to four, with five the minimum re- quired under the terms of the club’s constitution.
Chartered accountant Andrew Watson, appointed as a director last week, will take charge of looking after the Blue Square South club’s finances.
“It was with some sincere regret and also with a taint of relief that I found it necessary to resign from the board,” Stokes-Smith said.
“This was the second occasion I had been given the opportunity to assist the club and, in leaving, I know it will be my last. I had made a commitment when putting myself forward for election to achieve certain objectives for stakeholders.
“While I am disappointed those objectives have not been achieved to the extent I would have liked, together with my colleagues, we have done our best, within the constraints of other commitments in our lives, to meet the challenges and move the club forward.”
Meanwhile, the club is reviewing the way complimentary tickets are handled in a bid to maximise gate receipts.
There have been complaints from supporters an-gered at what they see as people gaining free admission when they are not entitled to.
Director Colin Layland is overseeing the situation and hopes to have it resolved in the near future.
As part of the club’s plans to win back fans, an incentive scheme is being launched, starting with Saturday’s home league match against Woking.
Known as the Faithful Card, it will be stamped at the next six home games and four stamps will allow free admission to a match before the end of the season.
