Redditch take transfer-listed Adaggio on loan

WORCESTER City striker Marco Adaggio has joined county rivals Redditch United on a month’s loan.

Adaggio, joint leading scorer at the St George’s Lane club with nine goals, has fallen out of favour and is on the transfer list.

Redditch are battling relegation in Blue Square North and are keen to bolster their attacking options.

Adaggio was due to sign yesterday and make his Reds debut in their Blue Square North match at Stafford Rangers last night.

His last Worcester goal came in the 4-0 FA Trophy victory at Carshalton Athletic on January 26 but caretaker manager Carl Heeley feels he has better options.

The City boss said: “He wants to play football and he doesn’t want to leave the club. But I feel at this moment in time I see Rob Elvins, Alfie Carter, Matt Dinsmore, Craig Wilding and Marc McGregor in front of him in the pecking order so that’s the reason we are doing it.

“I don’t have enough defensive cover at the moment so it might free up some funds.”

Adaggio has made 20 starts so far this season for City and appeared a further 15 times as a substitute, picking up three yellow cards in the process.

Good luck Marco. On this occasion I hope that Carl Heeley is proved wrong and that he does well and is taken off the list. Whilst he may have played well on Monday night , I do not see how Craig Wilding can be rated ahead of Marco as a striker and the same goes for most of the strikers to whom Carl has referred. I don't agree with the public comments in this way either. As a manager in his other job, I'm sure that Carl wouldn't make such public comments about fellow employees.

I only hope this is a temporary situation and Marco takes the opportunity to make sufficient of a statement to be taken off the transfer list. I go down to St Georges Lane to be entertained, as far as I'm concerned Marco is by far the most entertaining player at the club. If the clubs purpose is to attract more people through the turnstiles, gaining and retaining players of the ability of Marco is a key element of that. In addition to that he is a thoroughly nice guy and a credit to the club. Let's hope it is only a month before he is back at the Lane. Good luck Marco

I agree with the above posts. Since his arrival, Marco has been an exciting addition to the team and a favourite of young and old fans alike.

It's difficult to see how a player of Marco's stature (and Matt Dinsmore for that matter) can be a success within a team that has relied on pumping high balls upfield.

I hope that Marco returns to Worcester after his loan spell and becomes the teams leading goal scorer.

Good luck Marco.
