DANNY Glover has found a new lease of life since joining Worcester City.
The former Port Vale striker endured a barren couple of seasons in which he was farmed out on loan to Rochdale and Salisbury before his release.
He then spent the early part of the summer at Stafford Rangers and AFC Telford before arriving at St George’s Lane. Now, with two goals in his first four games, as well as assists for four-goal strike partner Mark Danks, Glover is fast becoming a lethal weapon for City.
The 20-year-old hit-man said: “I’m enjoying my football again, but my best is yet to come.
“I am doing better than last season so it’s a big lift for myself and I’m really having fun.
“I’d been at Stafford and Telford before coming here but as soon as I arrived I knew we had a decent team.”
Glover has played a major role in helping City to three successive Blue Square Bet North wins and he is keen to build on that at Stafford Rangers this afternoon (3pm) and at home to Solihull Moors on Monday.
He said: “We are on a bit of a roll with three wins but you don’t want it to just stop at three wins.
“You want to carry it on and get some momentum — hopefully we can make it five wins by Monday.
“Then the fans will come and get behind us like they did when we beat Hinckley 3-2 on Monday and it just helps everybody and gives us a lift.”
However, he is aware City are far from the finished article and has challenged his new team-mates to improve defensively after failing to keep a clean sheet so far this season.
Glover said: “It’s like a rollercoaster.
“We attack well, look good going forward and will always score a few goals, we have just got to get our minds around defending as a team.
“We can’t really blame anybody but we’ve got to get stronger at set-pieces because we have conceded a few goals.”
