FLYING winger Greg Mills could make his Worcester City debut at Workington tomorrow after signing until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has been snapped up by the St George’s Lane club after falling out of favour at Telford United and being released by the Blue Square Bet Premier side.
Mills, who scored six goals in 30 appearances for the Bucks on loan last season, can play on either flank and manager Carl Heeley feels his pace will help City get back on track following four straight defeats.
The former Derby County player, who had a trial with Kidderminster Harriers last summer, is the second player to make the switch from Shropshire to City following centre-half Stuart Whitehead’s arrival earlier this month.
Heeley said: “We needed a ball-carrier and somebody who has got pace in the wide areas and can go past people. He’s got bags of pace, good skill and he’s desperate to play games.
“He’s the right type of player we are looking for – like Ellis Deeney and Tyler Weir, he has a good pedigree but is young and hungry.”
Mills becomes City’s fifth signing since the turn of the year and Heeley believes it underlines their challenge for the Blue Square Bet North play-offs.
“There’s a long way to go but let’s give it our best shot. I think we have got some great talent in the squad,” he said.
Mwanwhile, utility player Neil Cartwright has joined league rivals Nuneaton Town after being released by City last week, following 18 months at St George’s Lane.
