WINGER Danny Edwards has targeted Saturday’s visit of Blyth Spartans for Worcester City to reignite their play-offs push.

Three consecutive draws, the last being Saturday’s 0-0 stalemate at Solihull Moors, preceded by four straight defeats, has seen Carl Heeley’s team fall eight points adrift of the Blue Square Bet North top five.

However, Blyth are staring relegation in the face and Edwards knows City cannot afford to pass up the opportunity to register a much-needed victory.

He said: “We’ve got some good home games coming up against some of the bottom five teams so hopefully we can get the wins that can get us up back near the play-offs.

“Blyth are down at the bottom so you’re looking to those matches to get three points and get back to winning ways and scoring goals.

“January killed us a little bit.

“We were on a run before then and did feel a little bit down after that but now we’ve gone three unbeaten, hopefully we can get back to winning ways against Blyth.

“That’s the one we’re really looking to get the goals in and then move on from there.”

Edwards added: “Earlier in the season it was a case of you score two goals we’ll score three but recently we have picked up defensively.

“We are three unbeaten but going forward we haven’t created enough in the last couple of games.

“I don’t know what that’s down to but hopefully we can put it right.”

Its now a ten point gap after last night's results - effectively 11 with goal difference.

Blyth's form since the New Year has been better than ours - and they have shown they can battle out draws against the best/better sides in the league - Nuneaton, Altrincham, Stalybridge and Boston. When they've lost, its only been by one.

Its going to take an attacking and creative mind-set to beat them - otherwise another dire midfield attrition in on the cards. Goals, lads - goals. Please work on how to create them - the players are good enough, so lets see the end product of your effort!

I took a mate to the Histon game - he said Worcester looked very good - when they didnt have the ball.
