THERE is a glut of home games coming up for Worcester City and it’s vital we pick up points from them.

Five of our next six league games are at St George’s Lane, starting with Blyth Spartans on Saturday and followed by Boston United, Gainsborough Trinity, Droylsden and Stalybridge Celtic.

It’s funny how the fixtures map out. You get the list at the start of the season but that invariably changes due to cup commitments and postponements and it can result in situations like this.

A few weeks ago, March looked a reasonably light month but now it looks like it’s going to be the busiest of the season.

It will be nice to get back on home soil, however, because we have only been beaten twice at the Lane this season and that’s not a bad record.

But when you have got all these games coming up in such a short space of time, it’s important to continue that form.

I thought last Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Solihull Moors was a good point but if we back that up with a win then it’s an even better point.

We were a bit rusty at Damson Park but we are striving for that bit of momentum and have been trying to get a little bit of a foothold in the league. January was a bad month for us but we have drawn the last three games now.

With so many home games on the horizon, it’s also vital we continue to attract the fans to the Lane.

The support has been superb this season, which is very encouraging, and we know they will keep coming back if we continue to pick up points.

We like to play football the right way and pass the ball as much as possible in the conditions at this time of year.

The team are also faring quite well in the fair play league so that’s another good sign.

Add a winning formula to that and the fans will keep coming to matches.

I know goals have been hard to come by of late and we have relied on Mike Symons who is having a barren spell.

But he’s a very good player and will score goals, it’s down to the rest of the players. Symmo’s goals have carried us through and we need others to chip in and step up to the plate.

Consecutive home games is also good for revenue because the main source of income is through the turnstiles.

When you’re away you don’t benefit from that and a few weeks without home matches can bring short-term cashflow issues.

That said, you know there will be 21 home games in a campaign, it’s just whether they are close together or evenly spaced out. The fixtures will all get played and when they are we must make the most of them.
