WORCESTER City are hoping they can prise defender Tyler Weir away from Blue Square Bet North rivals Gloucester City.

The 21-year-old full-back, who played for the Tigers against City in both games over Christmas, is on loan at Whaddon Road from Hereford United until Saturday.

Gloucester want to keep Weir beyond that date but Worcester are also keen to take him on loan to St George’s Lane as they step up their bid for the play-offs.

Manager Carl Heeley is looking to bolster his options defensively and Weir, a product of the youth system at Edgar Street, fits the bill.

“We have made an enquiry about him,” the City boss said. “He’s a player that would interest us but I believe there’s another club as well as us and Gloucester chasing him.

“We have registered our interest and we’ll see what happens from there.

“We rate him but a lot depends on what his parent club wants.”
