WORCESTER City have heralded as a success the experiment of not setting admission prices.

The Aggborough club scrapped their usual entry fees for last Saturday's Skrill North match against Brackley Town in favour of fans giving donations.

Billed as "pay what you want" in a bid to attract more supporters, City's turnstile takings were up on games with similar crowds this season.

A total of £1,743 was raised from a gate of 568, compared to £1,432 from the 531 fans that attended the 2-1 victory over Stalybridge Celtic on March 1.

Against Colwyn Bay in January, gate receipts were £1,489 from a gate of 571, while a crowd of 559 against Workington last September generated £1,388.

The Brackley figures are even more impressive given that around 50 per cent of City's attendances are made up of season ticket holders, who don't pay on the day.

City director Mike Davis said: "A big thank you to all who helped shake the buckets and to our supporters, both season ticket holders who contributed generously and those who normally pay at the turnstiles.

"What we need now is a big response to our season ticket offers."

Meanwhile, Saturday's final match of the season against Boston United at Aggborough will be segregated.

The visitors are expecting a large travelling support, who will be housed in the south stand terrace and main stand blocks L and M.

Pilgrims fans will not have access to the Harriers Arms or Aggborough Suite and will only be able to access the Kidderminster Harriers Supporters Club prior before the game.
