WORCESTER City are actively looking to bring in new personnel in a bid to solve their goal-scoring conundrum.

The Blue and Whites have managed just five goals in seven Vanarama Conference North matches this season and haven’t scored in four of them.

Although they recruited extra firepower in the summer, and tied last season’s leading marksman Daniel Nti down to a new contract, finding the net has been a struggle so far.

While there might not be any fresh faces in for tonight’s visit of Lowestoft Town to Aggborough (7.45), that situation might have changed before Saturday’s home match against Chorley.

Manager Carl Heeley said: “We are looking at options to try to improve our goals.”

Despite their low tally, and being the league’s second lowest scorers last season, City are becoming an increasingly tough nut to crack at Aggborough.

Heeley’s side have lost just once in 13 games at their temporary base during 2014 and will be aiming to protect that record against newly-promoted Lowestoft.

Since the turn of the year, City have won seven home games, including their only one to date this season against North Ferriby United, and drawn five, with their only defeat coming against Telford United in February.

It is a sequence to be proud of and one Worcester will be determined to continue as they look to bounce back from Saturday’s 1-0 loss at league leaders Barrow.

With Lowestoft facing a 200-mile trip, City will be hoping to catch their opponents cold.

Boss Heeley said: “We’ve had to make long journeys on Tuesdays and Saturdays and you try to prepare yourself as best you can. Hopefully we can take advantage of that but it’s no given.

“We’ve done well at Aggborough for most of 2014 with a very low number of defeats.”

Wayne Thomas could return for tonight’s match after missing out against Barrow to recover from the head injury he suffered in the victory against North Ferriby.

Jacob Rowe came in at centre-half alongside Graham Hutchison but is expected to make way for the former Southampton defender.

The Trawlerboys have won two and drawn four of their seven matches so far.
