WORCESTER City are set for an FA Cup windfall of around £60,000 after their clash with Coventry City was selected for television highlights.

The first round proper tie at the Ricoh Arena will take place on Sunday, November 9, at 2pm and will be one of eight matches featured in a special BBC Final Score programme, for which City will receive £12,500.

The Blue and Whites could also expect to bank £50,000 in gate receipts after the clubs agreed to cut ticket prices to £10 for adults and £5 for concessions and juniors.

Coventry’s average home attendance this season is a shade over 9,000 and Worcester would likely take a large following.

Carl Heeley’s side have already won £24,500 in prize money, including £12,500 for beating Greenwich Borough last Sunday with goals from captain Ellis Deeney and Daniel Nti.

The City manager said: “It’s a nice bit of exposure and it’s another boost for the club’s finances.

“We knew there was a possibility the match could be selected and it will be good for the club. It’s a nice little extra incentive.

“I think it’s deserved, too. We have had a bit of an uphill struggle so when something like this happens it’s nice to enjoy and the money will be welcome.”

Tickets are set to go on sale at the start of next week but, given the timescale and 30,000 capacity of the Ricoh Arena, it is expected fans will be able to pay on the day.

Worcester will also be providing coach travel to and from the game, departing from the car park in Pitchcroft’s Croft Road at a cost of £10 and £5. Times are yet to be set.

The Aggborough outfit believe the travel and ticket prices represent good value for money for supporters.

A City statement said: “The club is keen to ensure that every one of its loyal supporters has the opportunity to attend the game.

“With this in mind, and in order to make the day affordable for all concerned, the club has agreed reduced admission charges with Coventry City.

“For those unable to secure advance tickets, it is understood there will be a pay-on-the-day facility. However, to avoid any unnecessary queueing, the club would strongly recommend that you purchase tickets in advance wherever possible.”

Tickets will be available from the Tourist Information Centre next to the city’s Guildhall as well as the club’s online shop, which can be found at worcestercityfc.com.

However, fans purchasing online would need to collect the tickets from the Guildhall as the club say they cannot guarantee receipt if posted.
