DANNY Jackman believes Scunthorpe United should be wary of Worcester City when the sides meet in the FA Cup next month.

City’s reward for dumping Coventry City out on Sunday is a second round trip to the Sky Blues’ fellow League One strugglers.

Although not the home draw most had been hoping for, there is genuine belief in the City camp of building on their Ricoh Arena heroics.

Jackman, who played at Scunthorpe’s Glanford Park during his Football League career, said: “We fully deserved Sunday’s result and I think they’ll be having a look at us and may be be a little bit worried.

“It’s a tight ground with a tight pitch so hopefully we can make it really difficult for them. The game-plan will be the same — to stay in the game as long as we can, nick a goal and go from there.

“It’s not as big a ground as Coventry and there won’t be as many fans there. But we can turn that to our advantage — if the lads can play in front of 8,000 there’s no reason why they can’t play in front of a lot less than that.”

The midfielder added: “Getting to the third round is achievable as long as we do what we did in the previous round — hard work and determination has got to come through.

“Yes, you need that little bit of luck like we had on Sunday but if you work hard you get that little bit of luck and I think we fully deserved it. Fingers crossed, it goes the same way again.”

Striker Mike Symons, who made his first start in more than a month against Coventry, was among the players who watched the draw live on the BBC at Aggborough.

He said: “Ideally, we’d love to have had a home draw and fill the stadium, but it’s only one game over 90 minutes and if we win we’re in the third round draw.

“We’re still getting over Sunday’s performance, it was a fantastic day and the atmosphere with the fans made it very special.

“It was a great shift from everyone involved and now we have got a few weeks to prepare and hopefully get the result away.

“If we can apply ourselves the way we did on Sunday there’s no reason why we can’t get a result.”
