WORCESTER City have been allocated 1,600 tickets for next month’s FA Cup second round tie at Scunthorpe United.

The Blue and Whites are hoping to repeat their giant-killing act of round one, when they defeated Coventry City 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena.

More than 3,000 fans roared Carl Heeley’s side to victory last Sunday and another sizeable following is expected at Glanford Park on Sunday, December 7.

The League One side have sent 1,600 tickets to Worcester with the option for around another 600 should those sell out.

All the tickets will be seated and priced at £12 for adults, £6 for over 60s and concessions and £2 for under 16s.

City, who hope to announce today when they will go on sale, also plan to run buses to the match following the success of the scheme with Coniston Coaches last weekend.

They are keen to make travel affordable for fans, particularly with Sundays seeing a reduced train timetable.

Although there has been some disquiet among supporters that the match has been overlooked for live coverage by the BBC and BT Sport, being one of the eight games featured in the BBC’s Final Score programme will bank the club another £12,500.

Manager Carl Heeley said: “I am a bit disappointed that we have been overlooked for the live game because I thought, with the achievement at Coventry, the club deserved the live exposure.

“But it’s not to be so we can’t do anything about it. It was a lucky omen for us last time on the Sunday and the £12,500 will be welcome.”

He added: “We have got to remember that we are away against a League One club in the second round of the FA Cup.

“Anything is possible and we will give it the best preparation we can.”
