ASSISTANT manager Matt Gardiner says Worcester City’s players will be relishing tomorrow night’s mouth-watering FA Cup second round replay against Scunthorpe United (7.45pm).

Striker Daniel Nti and centre-half Wayne Thomas have been declared fit for the sell-out tie at Aggborough which is being screened live on BT Sports.

Company secretary John Jordan says the Blue and Whites fans have snapped up their full 4,500-ticket allocation as the demand outstripped supply for the home sections.

It will be the largest ‘home’ crowd for a City match since the 4,072 which saw the club’s final league encounter at St George’s Lane in April 2013.

Carl Heeley’s men held the Iron to a 1-1 draw at Glanford Park in the original tie and defeated 1987 winners Coventry City 2-1 in the first round at the Ricoh Arena.

The winners will have home advantage in the third round against Chesterfield or MK Dons who have to replay because the Spireites fielded an ineligible player in their first match.

“It will be absolutely fantastic occasion because it will be our first home sell-out at Aggborough and the players will be relishing it,” said Gardiner.

“We have sold as many tickets as we are allowed to. We have got a full home crowd, the television cameras and the FA Cup and we could not ask for anything more.

“The directors and volunteers at the club have been working so hard behind the scenes and this is a big thank-you to them and to all the players and supporters.

“Our aim is to bring the club back to Worcester and this is an opportunity to show people on the outside just how hard everyone at the club is working.”

Gardiner says City trained on Monday night and confirmed that both Nti (virus) and Thomas (ankle) had come through the session without any problems.

“All the lads are relishing the challenge and I believe their natural adrenaline will come through,” said Gardiner.

“There was a bit of worry about Wayne’s injury but he’s OK.

“We have to be ready for what Scunthorpe will bring but we can’t afford to focus too much on them because we have to concentrate on what we do well.

“We had Scunthorpe watched in their win against Crewe. The pressure will be on them because they are expected to win.

“We have worked on a few things. John Snape and I do quite a bit of work on our free-kicks and corners and it’s great when it pays off.”
