MANAGER Carl Heeley insists Worcester City are ‘massive underdogs’ for tomorrow night’s FA Cup second-round replay against Scunthorpe United at Aggborough.

Heeley guided his side to a 1-1 draw at Glanford Park in the original tie but says the League One outfit are favourites to win in front of the BT Sports cameras.

Speaking tonight, the City chief said: “It’s a big game for the club but there’s no pressure on us.

“We have done really well to get this far in the competition and we just want to do ourselves justice playing in front of a large crowd and the television cameras.

“We are massive underdogs because Scunthorpe are a League One club and we are not expected to win.”

Company secretary John Jordan says the Blue and Whites fans have snapped up their full 4,500-ticket allocation as the demand outstripped supply for the home sections.

But Scunthorpe have sold around 90 tickets for the tie.

Meanwhile, Heeley has been linked, along with the likes of former Hereford United boss Martin Foyle and ex-Mansfield chief Paul Cox, for the vacant manager’s role at Telford United.

He said: “I have not got to let that be a distraction because I am the manager of Worcester City and I am focussing fully on the cup tie.

“I have not applied for the Telford job and I won’t be applying for it and, if people want to speculate about it, there’s nothing I can do.

“Telford are a big club and are well supported and so too are Worcester City which has been a huge part of my life for many years. I am enjoying being part of the success at Worcester City.”
