MANAGER Carl Heeley says he is determined to bring silverware to Worcester City by winning the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup.

City, who have not won the county competition since 1997, face holders Redditch United in a semi-final clash at the Valley Stadium tomorrow night (7.45pm).

Although only five teams started out and this is Worcester’s first match, Heeley insists the prospect of a final against Kidderminster Harriers, who beat Stourbridge in the other last-four encounter, is worth fighting for.

“I want to win the senior cup,” he said. “I want to get to a final against Kidderminster Harriers.

“We have got enough players in the squad. We might swap it around a little bit but whatever team we pick it will be a strong one.

“Redditch are a good side, they’re going well this season so it’s going to be a tough game but we want to win the cup.”

All three of City’s loan signings — keeper Ryan Boot, left-back Johnny Lynch and winger Micah Evans — are available, while striker Daniel Nti is back from suspension after sitting out Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Colwyn Bay.

Heeley was impressed with the debut of Evans, who set up Tristian Dunkley to open the scoring at Llanelian Road.

“Micah always looked lively and could cause their left-back problems and that’s where the goal came from,” the Worcester boss said.

“It was a bit of skill to get in behind, then he pulled a great ball back and Tristian had run 40 yards to get himself in the box to finish well.

“It’s the first time Micah has played for a long time and you can see what a good player he is.”

City, still without Wayne Thomas as he completes his two-game ban, could also turn to academy midfielder Dean Waldron, who was on the bench at the weekend, and striker Connor Collins against the Southern League Premier Division play-off hopefuls.
