WORCESTER City say an update on the club’s finances will be provided to the shareholders at an annual general meeting in May.

The Blue and Whites have not held a shareholders’ meeting since they left St George’s Lane in June 2013 and supporters will be eager to see the health of the Blue and Whites’ balance sheet.

Chairman Anthony Hampson says it will also be a chance for fans to quiz the board of directors on the future of the club.

It is also hoped to call an extraordinary general meeting at the same time for shareholders to vote on a change of constitution proposed by the supporters’ trust.

Hampson said: “We, as a board, will be hoping to call an AGM in May and hopefully an EGM also at that time on the request of the supporters’ trust who will be putting their case to shareholders to change the ownership and structure of the club.

“In any event, an AGM will be called in May to update shareholders on the club’s finances and answer questions about the direction we have chosen for next season.”

One area fans will be keen to address will be the plans for a new stadium at Perdiswell, which have yet to be heard by planners at Worcester City Council and won’t be before the general election.

Hampson said: “With regards to the future plans at Perdiswell, this is proving challenging and the longer there is uncertainty the less funds will be around to pay for it.”

More immediate is a ground-share for next season with officials due to reveal where City will be playing in 2015-16 this month.

The chairman said: “As a director of the football club, we have to balance the books but also need to be aware that our supporters want to watch football of a sufficiently high standard in appropriate surroundings which, in turn, encourages them to stay as supporters attending matches.

“The club, if it is to remain viable, needs profitable success on the pitch as well as off and it takes an element of risk to do this.”
