GOALKEEPER Nathan Vaughan is back in training with Worcester City but Ryan Boot looks set to retain the number one jersey.

Vaughan, who has been sidelined by a troublesome foot injury since the end of January, was involved in the warm-up prior to Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Boston United.

He could force his way back into the reckoning for Saturday’s trip to Lowestoft Town but on-loan Port Vale keeper Boot has impressed with a string of good performances in Vaughan’s absence.

Manager Carl Heeley explained: “Nathan trained the other evening and he came through without any discomfort and he did the warm-up on Saturday. That’s looking positive but it’s an area where we’ve got cover.

“Ryan has done well for us. Unfortunately, with Nathan looking like he could get back it’s an area where we’re stocked up at the moment.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Connor Gater is going to Lilleshall for treatment on his groin, although it is not thought he requires surgery.

Heeley said: “It looks like inflammation of an old injury, that’s what they seem to think with the scan.”
