FINISHING in the Conference North top 10 would be no less than Worcester City deserve, according to manager Carl Heeley.

Saturday’s 4-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Hyde kept City in ninth position with just three games of the campaign to go, having played a fixture less than 10th-placed Solihull Moors.

Heeley, whose side host Gloucester City tomorrow (7.45pm), said: “We’ve got a clear aim of what we want to do while we’re in exile and I think we’ve exceeded all of those aims.

“It would be nice to finish in the top eight or 10, that would be fabulous. I think the club deserve that after this season.

“It would be harsh if we didn’t finish in the top 10 because I think we’re a top-10 side.

“That said, we need more points to do that. We’ve got an opportunity and need to go and pick up some more points from now until the end of the season.”

Meanwhile, utility player Aaron Brown has been released following his second spell with the club because he could not commit to the schedule.

Heeley explained: “There’s a number of things that he does in his personal life, he’s quite a busy guy and I asked for a certain commitment and it’s proved to be the case that he couldn’t do it.

“He just couldn’t deliver the level of commitment that the rest of the boys and myself and Matt Gardiner dictate.”
