WORCESTER City are out to finish the season in victorious style by securing eighth place in Vanarama Conference North.

Already assured of a top-10 finish in their most successful league campaign for four years, a win against Colwyn Bay at Aggborough tomorrow (3pm), coupled with Hednesford Town failing to win at Brackley Town, would see them leapfrog the Pitmen.

A City victory would also consign Colwyn Bay to relegation as the North Wales side need three points and a slip-up from Brackley to avoid the drop.

Worcester manager Carl Heeley said: “It’s going to be tough for Colwyn Bay but we have to be brutal and try to inflict some pain and relegate them, that’s football and we’ve got to be professional about it and that’s what we’re aiming to do.

“It’s not our fault if we relegate them, it’s over 42 games, but we want to finish our season off on a high to try to round off what’s been a memorable season - and for the supporters who’ve been fabulous to us.

“It would be nice to finish off the campaign with three points. We’re guaranteed a top 10 finish but we want to finish in eighth position if we can.”

Although City cannot better the 65-point tally they gleaned in 2011-12, when they finished seventh, they have comfortably surpassed the 50 points of the past two seasons.

“We got ourselves up to seventh position and then with losing the ground and a big budget cut we started again from scratch,” Heeley said.

“But we’ve clawed ourselves back up and we’ll be finishing in a respectable position and we’ve got to try to build on that.

“Although resources are still going to be tight, hopefully, with the contacts we’ve got we can get some little gems in and move some players on but the aim is to keep improving season on season.”

Kyle Haynes could return to the starting line-up after being cup tied for Tuesday’s Worcestershire FA Senior Cup final, which City lost 2-1 to landlords Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough.

His inclusion looks set to be the only change as City were only able to named four substitutes against Harriers due to injury and unavailability.

Keeper Nathan Vaughan completes his three-game ban against Colwyn Bay but striker Michael Taylor has not recovered from a knee injury.

Midfielders Connor Gater (groin) and Danny Jackman (ankle) remain long-term absentees but Heeley is looking forward to having them fit and raring to go next season.
