THERE remain question marks over the futures of two Worcester City defenders.

Left-back Tyler Weir is set for an extended holiday in Australia, while centre-half Jacob Rowe will be searching for work after finishing his university degree.

Former Birmingham City young professional Rowe, 24, has been studying for a Bachelor of Science in business management at the University of Worcester and his football future will depend on where his career off the pitch takes him.

Ledbury-based Weir, 24, is planning a trip Down Under with a possible return to England in July.

Ex-Hereford United defender Weir made 39 appearances for City during the 2014-15 season and Rowe played in 42 games, including seven as substitute.

Worcester joint manager Carl Heeley said: “Jacob is finishing his university degree and looking for employment. If he finds it in the Midlands, he’ll stay at the club. If not, he’ll probably move on.

“It looks like Tyler’s going to Australia. We’d love to keep him at the club. He says he should come back in July. There may be a deal for him then.”

But Heeley admitted they did not want to risk going into pre-season without Weir or a suitable alternative.
