WORCESTER City have released defender Kyle Haynes with immediate effect.

Joint manager Carl Heeley said: "Kyle expressed his disappointment at not being selected to start the first game of the season at Gainsborough Trinity last Saturday.

"He was advised that due to taking holiday in the last week of pre season had cost him his place in the starting 11 alongside Danny Jackman (holiday) and Rob Elvins (injury) who both missed out in making the matchday 16.

"Kyle then advised us he wished to sign and play a month of games at Redditch United on a dual registration basis until required at Worcester City.

"On Wednesday I called Kyle to advise him of the injury sustained by Tyler Weir and told Kyle he would now get the opportunity to stake his claim for a place in the starting 11 against Lowestoft Town this coming weekend.

"The reaction received from Kyle was that he wanted to stay at Redditch in favour of taking his opportunity at Worcester City which is very disappointing for us."

Heeley continued:  "After discussing the matter with Matt and the rest of the management team, we feel strongly that the squad and having everyone 100% focussed and pulling in the same direction override the feelings and actions of one player no matter who that may be.

"Therefore, we have taken the decision to release Kyle and let him pursue his preferred option of playing his football elsewhere.

"We wish Kyle well in his future career and thank him for his efforts in his time at the club."
