WORCESTER City and Chorley go into battle at Aggborough today boasting identical records in Vanarama National League North (3pm).

City and Chorley have made similar starts to the campaign, both registering a win, draw and suffering two defeats in their opening four matches.

While City crashed 3-0 at Solihull Moors in midweek, Chorley picked up a maiden league victory, thrashing struggling FC United by the same scoreline at Victory Park.

Former Blackburn Rovers star Matt Jansen labelled his first win as Chorley’s new manager as “huge”.

Jansen has stepped up from assistant manager to take charge after Garry Flitcroft’s resignation during the summer.

After losing 3-2 at home to Nuneaton Town on the opening day, Chorley crashed 4-0 at North Ferriby. They drew 2-2 against Corby Town but hit top form to overpower United.

Jansen said: “We were unfortunate against Nuneaton on the opening day but we drew on Saturday and won against United, which will breed confidence going forward.

“I can’t really knock anybody in the team on Tuesday. It was a fantastic performance.

“It was a clean sheet, which makes a big difference, and we are now climbing up the table.”

Meanwhile, City’s National League North match with FC United at Broadhurst Park will now be on Friday, October 2 (7.45pm).

The game has been brought forward from the Saturday as Manchester City host Newcastle United.

An FC United statement said: “One of the planning conditions on Broadhurst Park is that we cannot have matches at the same time as Manchester City.

“Our home and away fixtures cannot be flipped because Worcester groundshare at Kidderminster.

“After consideration of all options, Worcester have agreed to play on the Friday.”
