BULGARIAN striker Nikolai Todorov is set to link-up with Worcester City for today’s Midlands derby with Hednesford Town at Aggborough (3pm).

The 19-year-old is arriving on loan from Championship club Nottingham Forest where he has been part of their under 21s set-up.

“We have been trying to strengthen up there and we now have a player coming in for Monday, Nikolai Todorov, who is a centre forward,” explained joint manager Matt Gardiner who admitted he had spent much of last week at various games.

“Tristian [Dunkley] is away and Ashley Vincent is still suspended. We will assess Ryan Rowe [who suffered a dead leg] but hopefully he will be fit.”

City dominated the possession at Brackley on Saturday but still went down 2-0, a goal in each half punishing mistakes by the visitors.

But skipper Ellis Deeney believes it’s only a matter of time before Worcester start picking up the wins that their performances have deserved.

He said: “It’s all going to click soon because we’re not far off.

“We’ve been a little bit sloppy in defence giving away too many goals and we’re not hitting the target enough but the goals will come because we’re creating chances and are dominating games. As soon as we start hitting the target then results will start coming.

“We got caught on the ball for the first one [at Brackley], although it was a good finish to be fair to the lad, and the second one was a free header after Nathan Vaughan came for the ball and missed it. He’s held his hand up and he keeps us in so many games that you cannot blame him for a rare mistake.

“It’s frustrating because we’re keeping the ball and playing it around but just not hitting the target. We know we’re not far off though and we have the right players – the lads who have come in have done well and we also have some good experience in midfield with the likes of Danny Jackman and Rob Elvins.”

Kidderminster Harriers travel to Tranmere Rovers today in the Vanarama National League (3pm), while Stourport Swifts host Coleshill in the Midland League Premier Division (7.45pm).
