FORMER Worcester City striker Mike Symons has joined Midland League Premier Division leaders Hereford.

The 29-year-old has just been released by Gloucester City.

"Mike comes with good pedigree and has a track record of scoring goals in a higher league than where we are at the moment," said Hereford manager Peter Beadle.

"His strength and style of play gives us another option in attack, which can only be beneficial to the team.

"He gives us more of a physical presence than we perhaps have at the moment, but having said that he can also get the ball down and play football.

"We fought off stiff competition from a number of clubs higher in the pyramid than us, but he has seen what we have got going here, he has heard about the tremendous support we have, and he wants to be a part of it."

The striker was released by Gloucester manager Tim Harris last week.

He has had three spells with the club.

Harris said: "Mike is a great lad who has done really well for us in the past though it has not worked out as well as either of us would have liked this time around.

"Everyone at Gloucester City would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future."
