EBBY Nelson-Addy is set to make his second Worcester City debut in tomorrow’s FA Trophy clash at Brackley Town — another of his former clubs (3pm).

But there will be no place for former Brackley defender Tom Sharpe, who misses out through suspension.

Midfielder Nelson-Addy had a season with City after signing in August 2013.

He had been in the same Loughborough University side as Dan Nti and lined up alongside Ellis Deeney for Aston Villa in the FA Youth Cup final three years earlier.

He moved to Brackley at the start of the 2014-15 season before signing for League Two side Hartlepool United.

But opportunities with the Pools have been limited and boss Ronnie Moore has agreed an initial one-month deal, which was perfect timing according to joint City manager Carl Heeley.

“With injuries to a number of players, we felt we needed to strengthen in certain areas,” Heeley said.

“With Tom Sharpe out and a question mark over Tyler Weir, it looks like we may have to play Danny Jackman at left-back. And, with injuries to Connor Gater and Dean Waldron, that left us light in midfield.

“Ebby is a player who can play in all those positions so it’s ideal for us.

“We know the player well and he knows some of the lads so hopefully it will be good for both Worcester City and Ebby.”

The 23-year-old has started just once in his 18 months in the north-east, a 3-3 draw at Carlisle United at the end of last season, although he has also made four substitute appearances.

Centre-half Sharpe is out for tomorrow’s Trophy third qualifying round trip due to a one-match suspension.

But he might have been ruled out anyway after missing the second half of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat of AFC Telford United with a head injury.

While league points remain a priority for Heeley as he looks to steer 16th-placed City clear of the Vanarama National League North drop zone, the joint boss certainly won’t be resting players tomorrow.

He said: “It gets me a little bit when clubs don’t take the FA Trophy seriously.

“It offers a serious chance to get to Wembley and, as North Ferriby showed last season, there’s a real opportunity for a club outside of the Conference to win it.

“We go into every game wanting to win it and this will be no different.

“We go to Brackley on the back of two wins and another would give us a bit of momentum.”

The sides have already met at St James Park this season with Brackley running out 2-0 winners back in August.

The home side’s Steve Diggin and Pablo Mills capitalised on two mistakes from the Blue and Whites to score.

But Brackley are now second from bottom in the division under the new management of former Nuneaton Town and Wrexham boss Kevin Wilkin.
