CALLS for Worcester City to return home have been backed by Worcester News readers with many saying they have waited long enough to see them play in the city again.

The Blue and Whites have been ground-sharing with Kidderminster Harriers since 2013 and, as we revealed earlier this week, the club look set to remain at Aggborough for another season.

However, with a decision yet to be made on an application to create a 4,419-capacity stadium in Perdiswell, supporters behind the bid are urging Worcester City Council bosses to help quicken up the “painfully slow process”.

City residents spoke of their frustration on social media about the club’s exile.

Liam Hopkins said: “This has gone on long enough. I am by no means a Worcester City fan but a lot of my friends are.

“Worcester City should be playing in Worcester. It’s the fans I feel sorry for,”

Stuart Sallis said: “Give the fans what they want. Our city is up and coming with the colleges, the university and a swimming pool but the only thing missing is our football club.”

Andrew Hinett said: “Bring Worcester City back home.”

From next season, the Vanarama National League North club will continue to pay Kidderminster Harriers a set sum on a match-by-match basis for the hire and use of Aggborough and its facilities.

Steve Tunley added: “Worcester City are the best employers in Kidderminster given how many stewards we pay per game compared to Gloucester at Cheltenham.

“In terms of the ground application, it has gone on long enough. We need either a yes or a no (from the council).

“The city council are paid employees of the people, so make a decision for the people.”

Paul Robinson said: “We are called Worcester City, not Kidderminster City.”
