WORCESTER City will hold talks with West Bromwich Albion this week as they look to keep hold of talented teenagers George Cleet and Shaun Donnellan.

The duo are set to return to the Premier League club after their loan deals ended on Saturday when they played a part in City’s memorable 3-2 victory at AFC Fylde in Vanarama National League North.

Since arriving on the eve of the clash with Brackley Town on December 28, Baggies’ under 21 aces have made a big impact as they helped keep a clean sheet on their debuts after being named as the centre-back pairing.

Ireland under-19 international Donnellan has especially caught the eye with four stand-out showings, which included scoring a superb late goal against Corby Town.

He also did not look out of place when moved into central midfield against Lancashire high-flyers Fylde.

Joint-manager Carl Heeley said he had been impressed with Cleet, 19, and Donnellan, 18.

He insisted City, who have recently secured the loan services of young West Brom keeper Ethan Ross until the end of the season, were looking to extend their deals.

“We will obviously speak to them (West Brom) as we would love to keep George and Shaun,” said Heeley, who was first alerted to the duo’s talents by fellow joint-boss Matt Gardiner last month.

“They have both been excellent for us.

“Shaun did very well in midfield on Saturday as he gives you energy. He a big lad and can head a lot of balls.

“You have to be flexible.

“They have both done that and done a great job for the team.

“So if we can keep them, brilliant.

“If they go back to West Brom, then they will go with glowing references from us because they have been brilliant for us. But let’s see what we can do.”
