NEW recruit Kyle Perry has come to Worcester City with “a point to prove” and joint-manager Carl Heeley has backed him to make a big impact.

Worcester landed the “physical” striker after managing to agree a deal with Vanarama National League North rivals Hednesford Town before the registration deadline last Thursday.

Heeley handed Perry his debut last Saturday and said he was pleased with what he saw as he helped 18th-placed City come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against leaders Solihull Moors.

“He caused problems against Solihull with his physical presence,” Heeley said.

“Kyle will be a big asset as he is a big, strong boy, he gets hold of the ball and he has come to the club with a bit of a point to prove.

“I think he will get better and better as he leads the line well and is something totally different to what we have got.”

The 30-year-old has a wealth of experience, having played for Port Vale and Walsall in the Football League along with AFC Telford United, Sutton Coldfield Town, Tamworth and Altrincham before joining Hednesford in 2015.

Heeley said he hoped to sign him last summer before the deal broke down and was confident he will provide a big threat in attack for City as they attempt to avoid the drop.

“You need the ball to go into your front man and it needs to stick,” he said.

“Lee Hughes, Deon Burton and Kyle provide that as they are three players who are all experienced with good goalscoring records and all lead the line well, so it is great to have them available to us.”

Alun Webb has also recently arrived at Aggborough after leaving Midland Football League Premier Division outfit Loughborough University. The 22-year-old winger came off the bench late on against Solihull and Heeley said he would not have to wait long before he gets his first start.

“Alun is younger than Kyle and is unproven,” Heeley said.

“But he has got good attributes as he has got lots of pace.

“I am sure, when the time is right, he will get the opportunity to start and show us what he can do.”
