JOINT-manager Matt Gardiner insists Worcester City have “not done anything yet” as they look to climb further clear of the drop zone with victory over Stockport County at Aggborough tomorrow (3pm).

After six draws and one defeat, Worcester finally ended their winless run with a 3-1 success against Bradford Park Avenue on Tuesday night.

The confidence-boosting victory also saw City move five points above third-from-bottom Lowestoft Town and up four places to 14th in Vanarama National League North.

However, Gardiner admitted his players now needed to back it up with another three points as they prepare to face mid-table Stockport, who have lost their last three games.

“It is still not job done and no one is getting carried away,” he said.

“Obviously, with where we are now, it makes things a little easier to play with a bit more freedom. But we have not done anything yet.

“We have got games in hand and, like we have said over the last few weeks, it is down to us where we finish. It is in our hands.”

Tom Sharpe, who missed City’s midweek clash due to a thigh injury, is expected to replace Keiran Morris at centre-back.

Experienced defender Wayne Thomas could also make an appearance following his five-week absence with a back problem.

Shaun Donnellan is set to return to Worcester’s midfield after playing for West Brom under 21s.

“We have to go to Hednesford, Telford, Bradford and Lowestoft and we have got Stockport and Fylde at home, so they are all big games,” he said.

“But we are not looking any further than tomorrow, so hopefully we will have our best players available and can pick our strongest 11, which will give us a chance.

“Stockport is another big game and we are focused on that. The confidence is good, so we will go into that with a positive mind-set.”

More than 400 fans turned out on Tuesday night when a brace from Lee Hughes and a stunning free-kick from Dan Nti set Worcester up for a much-needed win.

And Gardiner hopes to see more supporters for their final two home games at Aggborough before moving to Bromsgrove Sporting’s Victoria Ground.

“The fans were brilliant against Bradford,” Gardiner added. “They have stuck with us all the way through and helped us get over the line.

“Hopefully, they can see the boys are all pulling together and fighting to make sure we get as many points as possible.

“We have only got two games at home left, so hopefully we will see some more people down at Aggborough.”
