ATTACKING midfielder Sean Geddes insists he is “fitter and stronger” after making his surprise return to Worcester City.

The 24-year-old has agreed to rejoin the Blue and Whites ahead of the new season and admits he “owes” his decision to make the move to the club’s fans.

After advice from his father, Geddes asked to leave Worcester midway through last season to sign for former club Stourbridge.

But the ex-Manchester United trainee now wants to get back to his best at City where he has gained hero status following his brace to knock Coventry City out of the FA Cup in 2014.

"I'm delighted to be back playing for Worcester,” said Geddes, who will be looking to recapture the form which saw him score 17 goals in 44 appearances during the 2014/15 campaign.

“The fans have always been great with me so I owe it to them.

“I'm coming back fitter and stronger and I'm looking forward to the new season ahead."

Geddes also rose to fame with his rabona effort against Barrow in the FA Trophy, which was watched more than two million times around the world and finished runner-up in Sky Sports viewers’ goal of the year.

However, he struggled to back that up last season as he struck just four times in 22 appearances before stepping down a division to play for Stoubridge.

Manager Carl Heeley says he is delighted to have Geddes back on board and believes he will be a key figure for the club.

“As we all know, Sean has unbelievable ability which is way above the National League North and we were lucky enough to see those qualities during the memorable cup runs and, of course, that rabona,” Heeley said.

“After speaking with Sean, he convinced me the hunger to get back to his best form was as strong as ever. He can easily get to 20 goals a season and I want to give him that opportunity again.”
