EBBY Nelson-Addy says Worcester City are determined not to become the “nearly team” of Vanarama National League North this season.

The attacking midfielder is adamant City should have two wins on the board after pushing Harrogate Town and Tamworth all the way.

However, having conceded late goals with Harrogate snatching a drawing 2-2 last Saturday and Tamworth claiming a 1-0 win on Tuesday, Worcester sit in 17th place with one point.

Nelson-Addy feels his side have shown they have the ability to “cause any team problems” but admitted they had areas to work on to make sure they do not fall short again.

“After two games we should have six points but we have only got one,” said the 23-year-old, who rejoined City in the summer after being released by Hartlepool United.

“We don’t want to be one of those nearly teams. We want to go out and actually get three points.

“We are a young team with a lot of pace and energy but we have got to learn quickly.”

Nelson-Addy, who missed a great opportunity to score the opener at Tamworth, insisted he and his team-mates needed to be more clinical in front of goal and not give away “silly” set-pieces.

“I thought we played well (against Tamworth),” he said.

“It was a good away performance as we were solid but we gave away too many fouls and that eventually told.

“In these types of games, it is about taking your chances. We had a couple of opportunities when we were on top and didn’t take them.

“The least we deserved was a 0-0 draw but unfortunately we gave away a goal.

“We are very disappointed but we just have to go again and hopefully get a result tomorrow.”

City now face the task of taking on former National League outfit FC Halifax Town at the Shay (3pm) but Nelson-Addy says they are relishing the challenge.

“We don’t fear any team in the league,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter if they have come down or come up, we are just going to go out and play our own game as we believe we are good enough to give any team a good match.”
