WORCESTER City boss Carl Heeley admits he had “no reason to disbelieve” the officials after picking up two red cards in their 3-0 loss at FC Halifax Town.

Cieron Keane and Lee Hughes were both dismissed in a bad-tempered National League North affair at the Shay Stadium as Halifax full-back Cliff Moyo was also sent off.

Heeley felt Keane’s two yellow cards were “deserved” and, although admitting he did not see the incident which led to Hughes’ straight red, he believed the striker had “struck out” at a Halifax player.

“You are going to pick up bookings because that’s part and parcel of football and the two bookings (Keane received) were deserved,” Heeley said.

“I didn’t see the Hughes one as I turned away for a split second but the referee said he has struck out on the player on his face.

“I need to look at that one before I can comment but I have no reason to disbelieve the officials as I thought they had a good game.”

Having notched up 12 red cards last season, Heeley said he was disappointed to see two of his players get sent off in only their third match of the campaign.

"Obviously when you get sent down further to nine men, it makes your task very difficult," he added.

"We got what we deserved to be honest. They were better than us."
