MANAGER Carl Heeley believes “a win is just around the corner” for Worcester City after securing their second point of the season.

City, who arrived at FC United of Manchester on Saturday on the back of three successive defeats, fell behind on 17 minutes when Dale Johnson struck.

But striker Colby Bishop got his side back on level terms with a header as they went on to claim a hard-earned 1-1 draw.

Heeley felt it was the “right result” and a “step in the right direction” for the Blue and Whites, who have failed to pick up a victory in their opening five games in Vanarama National League North.

“That was a better performance,” said Heeley, whose side lost 3-2 to Gloucester City in midweek.

“There has not been a game where the boys have not given everything they have got and worked incredibly hard.

“Unfortunately, we have made errors but we responded well, kept our discipline and didn’t go to pieces and that has to be a step in the right direction.”

He added: “Looking at the amount of chances we had in the game, we probably should have won it.

“But I thought it was a good performance as we defended much better and looked a threat.”

After five games already this month, City will now have a week to prepare for their home clash against Chorley on Saturday (3pm) before their trip to Stockport County on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm).

“This will be the first week when we have not got a midweek game so there will be two (training) sessions,” he said.

“When you have had a game on a Tuesday evening you are very limited with what you can do on a Thursday evening, so the boys have got a few days break now and then we will have two good sessions.

“Hopefully, we will improve further because I think a win is just around the corner.”

Worcester will be without midfielder Ebby Nelson-Addy for Saturday’s match at the Victoria Ground after he got sent off against FC United.

Lee Hughes and Cieron Keane have also seen red this season but Heeley felt Nelson-Addy was “incredibly unlucky” to get a second yellow card.

“Ebby has probably committed two fouls in the whole game and, like Cieron (last week), he has been punished for both of them,” he said.

“The referee probably has to deal with it but if you look back and analyse that game a number of players committed more than two fouls and did not get punished.

“The unfortunate thing is when he goes to ground you get the crowd baying, so often you see the referee give those decisions.

“But that’s part and parcel of football. There will be no criticism from me to Ebby for that sending off.”
