EXPLOSIVE winger Nathan Olukanmi will bring a “new dimension” to Worcester City, according to childhood friend and teammate Ebby Nelson-Addy.

Olukanmi made his much-anticipated league debut last Saturday when he was unleashed off the bench in City’s 1-1 draw at FC United of Manchester.

After bursting on to the scene with a match-winning display against Leamington in pre-season, the 23-year-old has been left itching to get on the pitch while he awaited his international clearance to come through.

Nelson-Addy says he has also been eager to see his “super-fast” friend make an impact in Vanarama National League North.

“We went to primary school together, so we have known each other since we were about four years old,” Nelson-Addy said.

“He went to America, came back and then I recommended he had a trial at City and he did well in the game, so we are looking forward to seeing him play.”

Olukanmi has previously been part of Aston Villa and Wycombe Wanderers’ youth set-up before moving to America to play for Siena College in 2011.

He also won the 100-metres five times in the Milton Keynes School Championships.

Nelson-Addy added: “He will bring a new dimension to us.

“He is super-fast, got good technique, can get crosses in and makes good runs, so hopefully he can set me up for a few goals. I am looking forward to playing with him.”

Olukanmi could make his first start tomorrow when City take on Chorley at the Victoria Ground (3pm) but Nelson-Addy is suspended after being sent off against FC United.

The attacking midfielder rejoined Worcester this summer after being released by League Two side Hartlepool United.

Having scored two goals in eight games during his successful loan spell at City last term, Nelson-Addy said he was keen to return.

“I had a good loan spell here and then I wanted to go back to Hartlepool and play but things didn’t work out,” said Nelson-Addy, who also made 33 appearances for City in the 2013-14 campaign before signing for Brackley.

“Carl (Heeley) has been amazing to me, so it was easy for me to come back here.

“There were a few other options but Carl put together such a great pitch.

“He had been after me for a long time and showed real desire to get me, so I really want to repay his faith in me.

“I am just happy to be here again and I am looking to crack on now.”
