WORCESTER City are expected to extend goalkeeper Ryan Boot’s loan deal despite his calamitous display at the weekend.

Boot was at fault for two of Brackley’s goals as they made the most of his dropped catches to win 3-0 at City in the Emirates FA Cup.

However, manager Carl Heeley insisted the Port Vale stopper had been “outstanding” since arriving at the club last month.

The 21-year-old was key to turning City’s form around as his composure in between the sticks helped the Vanarama National League North side secure three successive clean sheets.

Boot’s agreement will come to an end after Worcester's clash at Boston United on Saturday (3pm).

And Heeley is poised to hold talks with the League One outfit in a bid to keep him at the club.

“We will look to try and extend it if we can,” said Heeley, who has also got West Bromwich Albion's academy ace Ethan Ross and ex-Grimsby Town keeper Nick Draper at his disposal.

“Ryan has been outstanding. He did not have the greatest day on Saturday, but that happens.”

Heeley was forced into making an early change in City’s third qualifying round tie against Brackley when versatile Cieron Keane cut his head open.

The 20-year-old was taken to hospital after the game and has now become a doubt for Worcester’s league encounter at Boston.

Veteran defender James Chambers is still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained against Gainsborough Trinity last month.

Midfielder Ebby Nelson-Addy also played no part in Worcester’s cup clash due to a groin strain.

“Cieron got a gash to his head, so he went off to hospital to get it sorted and we will see how it settles down in the week,” Heeley said.

“Ebby is carrying a groin strain. He wanted to play, but, with injuries like that, if you play him and he ruptures it then he is out for months, so it was not a risk worth taking.

“Also, at the opportunity when you think you could put him on the game was probably over.”

Meanwhile, centre-back Kieran Morris has joined Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division outfit Stafford Rangers on a dual registration agreement.

The former Brentford youngster, who made 25 appearances last season, has not featured for City since breaking his hand in pre-season.
