NEW signing Micah Evans has the ability to be a “major threat” for Worcester City, according to manager Carl Heeley.

The 23-year-old winger played 75 minutes of City’s 0-0 draw at Boston United on Saturday after joining from Vanarama National League North rivals AFC Telford United.

Evans, a product of Blackburn Rovers’ academy, will be a familiar name to City’s fans having had a loan spell at the club during the 2014/15 campaign.

And Heeley is confident Evans, who has played for Accrington Stanley, Chesterfield, Macclesfield Town and Hereford United, will make an impact.

“We needed another option out wide and he has been out of favour a little bit at Telford,” he said.

“We spoke to Rob (Smith) and Larry (Chambers) up at Telford and I asked about Micah and they said he would be available.

“I then spoke to the lad and he wanted to come, so we did the deal.”

Heeley continued: “He’s just short of minutes so we just need to be patient with him, but from his first spell people will remember what he can do. He was a major threat.

“He’s quick and he’s got a good delivery, so we are glad to have him on board.”

Heeley is also optimistic of extending goalkeeper Ryan Boot’s stay at City as talks continue with League One outfit Port Vale over prolonging his loan deal.

“Ryan wants to stay and I don’t see any reason why that can’t happen,” Heeley added.

“We will talk to Port Vale again tomorrow morning and hopefully get the deal done, so fingers crossed we can keep him at the club.”
