EBBY Nelson-Addy says Worcester City are targeting consistency in Vanarama National League North after “stopping the rot” at the weekend.

The Blue and Whites bounced back from defeats to Nuneaton Town and Brackley Town in the Emirates FA Cup with a battling 0-0 draw against Boston United last Saturday.

Although City struggled to create many opportunities at Jakemans Stadium, Nelson-Addy described it as a “solid team performance”.

And the 24-year-old midfielder believes the result provides them with a platform to build on as they aim to rediscover the form which saw them go on a six-match unbeaten run in September.

“We started really well (on Saturday) and had a couple of chances but they came strong in the second half, so in the end we were happy with the point,” Nelson-Addy said.

“Maybe we could have done better with certain chances but it was a good, solid team performance and everybody worked hard.

“We had a really good run of results before we lost those two games, so the gaffer (manager Carl Heeley) has stressed to us about being consistent.

“We stopped the rot on Saturday, so now we can push on, keep training hard and look for that consistency.

“We were missing a few players last week, so now we have got a few coming back we should be better.”

Nelson-Addy also hopes City can retain goalkeeper Ryan Boot, who put his error-strewn display against Brackley behind him by securing his fourth clean sheet since joining on loan from Port Vale last month.

“Booty had a great game after his couple of mistakes and he has been brilliant since he has come in,” he said.

“We have got three great keepers but Booty has done really well, so if the gaffer decides to keep him and if he decides to stay then we would be delighted.”

Preparations have begun at 16th-placed City ahead of their league encounter against lowly Stalybridge Celtic at Bromsgrove's Victoria Ground on Saturday (3pm).

Having recorded just one win in eight home games, Nelson-Addy said they are also determined to give their supporters something to cheer.

“We want to fix our home form as the fans always come out and have been amazing, so we want to do well in front of them and get a win,” said the former Hartlepool United player.

“We are not nervous about playing anyone and we think we can beat anyone on any given day.

“We have got a good mix of young and more experienced players and, when we all come together and play well, we look like a very good team.”
