WORCESTER City are keeping a close eye on Burton Albion youngster Cameron Steele as they look to bolster their attacking options.

The “tricky” forward is among a number of trialists at the National League North strugglers.

Steele is part of Burton’s under 23s side and was in the Championship side's team who lost 3-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Wednesday.

Caretaker boss John Snape said: “We have had three or four trialists down on Thursday night.

“Cameron is one of them as Burton are looking for him to get games. He is a tricky little forward and can play out wide.

“He has not signed yet so we are just looking at him.”

Snape admitted he was “short of a striker” after City failed to register a shot on target in their dismal 2-0 defeat at basement side Altrincham last Saturday.

But he was also keen to give Worcester’s youngsters a chance ahead of tomorrow's home game with Darlington (3pm) as he attended a Heart of Worcestershire College match on Wednesday.

The college, who work in partnership with City, progressed to the Men’s Premier Cup semi-finals with a 3-0 victory over Oaklands College at Little Perdiswell.

Callum Harper, Ben Tilbury and Bailey Beddows were all on target.

“I watched the college lads play and there were some interesting prospects there,” Snape added.
