JORDAN Murphy could be a “massive player” in Worcester City’s survival bid if he continues to shoot without fear, says skipper Danny Jackman.

The 20-year-old forward has scored three goals in his last two games, with his late strike on Saturday securing City a 1-1 draw at Nuneaton Town.

Jackman said his brace in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Darlington had also done his confidence “the world of good”.

“Jordan’s attitude has been outstanding throughout,” Jackman said.

“His confidence might have taken a hit in those games where we have not picked up any points.

“He is a young lad and is still trying to learn his trade, so it did him the world of good getting a couple of goals (against Darlington).

“It was a great strike (at Nuneaton) as well and that shows the confidence of the lad at the minute.

“If he can get a bit more service and he keeps working hard then there is no reason why he can’t be a massive player for us.”

Jackman admitted Murphy had benefitted from plenty of shooting practice in the lead up to the encounter at Liberty Way.

“We worked on our shooting in the week and tried to get them to take the fear out of shooting because when you get around the box you perhaps pass up the opportunity,” he said.

“If you don’t shoot, you don’t score and that’s the message we are trying to get across.”
