CARETAKER boss John Snape wants to see “more of the same” from his Worcester City players after pushing promotion-hopefuls Stockport County all the way in a 0-0 draw.

Snape admitted he was frustrated not to claim maximum points at Bromsgrove’s Victoria Ground as City missed several chances.

But he was encouraged by the way City, who switched to a 4-3-3 formation, troubled the visitors in an entertaining National League North clash.

“Of course I am frustrated not to win,” said Snape.

“Getting that first goal will be invaluable to us.

“If we had got that Stockport would have been shocked.

“Against Chorley on Friday we probably did not make enough chances but in the first half we had five or six good chances.

“So if we can do more of the same again (against Salford City) on Saturday I am sure we will put one away.”

With two games remaining City are level on points with third-from-bottom Gainsborough Trinity who drew 0-0 at Brackley Town.

But goal difference keeps Worcester out of the drop zone and Snape is upbeat ahead of the home meeting with play-off chasing Salford.

“Our home record isn’t great but we have more than matched any team that has come here,” he said.

“Only the odd goal has beaten us. We have not gone under and fought until the last minute.

“We were very offensive against Stockport as we want to win.

“We have been pinned back in certain games because we have been trying to make too many square and backward passes.

“But the message was to be on the front foot, get it forward and put them under pressure. We did that very well.”
