STAND-IN skipper Tyler Weir says a big travelling support to AFC Fylde tomorrow (3pm) will make a “massive difference” in Worcester City’s fight for survival.

A large crowd is expected to turn out at Mill Farm to see Fylde get crowned Vanarama National League North champions after securing top spot last weekend.

But Weir insists City need their own fans to make the trip to Lancashire as they aim to escape relegation on the final day.

Worcester are third from bottom, one point behind Gainsborough Trinity who visit 13th-placed FC United of Manchester.

“If we could take a good crowd up there it could make a massive difference to us,” Weir said. “I am urging every fan to come and help us out.”

City slipped into the drop zone following an agonising 2-1 defeat to 10-man Salford City last Saturday.

Weir admitted the changing room was “quiet” and he and his team-mates were “upset” to concede in the 86th minute.

But the long-serving full-back said they were now relishing the challenge of tackling free-scoring Fylde who possess the league’s top scorer in Danny Rowe.

The striker is aiming to bag his 50th goal in all competitions this term.

“We have got one of the best defensive records in the league,” Weir said.

“But against Salford when we needed to be more solid than any other game we conceded two poor goals.

"We were all gutted and upset about what happened. We are in the bottom three now but we know we have go to Fylde and win.

"If we do that we have got a chance of staying up.

“I remember going to Fylde and beating them 3-2 last season. We drew at Aggborough on the final day and should have got something against them at Bromsgrove this season.

“It will be a massive task but we can beat them.”
