WORCESTER City will be looking to lay it all on the line at AFC Fylde tomorrow (3pm) as they bid to avoid suffering their first relegation in 32 years.

Caretaker assistant boss Danny Jackman insists third-from-bottom City cannot leave Mill Farm with any regrets.

And the Worcester-born midfielder has urged his team-mates to be “forceful” and “aggressive” in their play against the Vanarama National League North champions.

Sitting one point adrift of safety City’s fate is out of their hands as a victory for Gainsborough Trinity at FC United of Manchester will see the Blue and Whites drop out of the sixth tier.

If Gainsborough lose a draw would be enough for Worcester to secure survival as they have got a superior goal difference.

But Jackman says his side are aiming to beat Fylde who have lost just once at home in the league all season.

“There is no point hoping that something will happen. You have got to go out there and make things happen,” the 34-year-old said.

“We have got to be forceful, positive and aggressive in our play. We can’t wait for things to happen so it has got to come from within all 11 of us.

“There is nothing worse than looking back and thinking, ‘What would have happened if I had done that?’

“It is going to be a tough ask so let’s hope Fylde are going to have their party celebrations early which will give us a bit of a leg up.”

Worcester have been relegated three times in 1967, 1974 and 1985 and Jackman says his team are determined not to add another dark day to the club’s 115-year history.

“We have got to back the players,” Jackman said.

“We are not blessed with a big squad and a big budget like some of the teams in this league so we have got to compete and do the best with what we have got.

“We have got good players but just need to convert a few of the chances we are missing.

“If you look at our results over the last five or six weeks there has been nothing in them.

“It has just come down to that finishing quality or that odd mistake.

"Against Chorley we should have been ahead with the chances we have had but we then conceded a goal and they didn’t really do anything else to warrant winning the game.”

The experienced James Chambers and winger Chekaine Steele have been ruled out with hamstring injuries.

Defender Tom Sharpe is expected to be recalled having come on for the injured Chambers last Saturday and set up Jordan Murphy’s equaliser in the 2-1 defeat to Salford City.

City will also be hoping to have full-back Andy Gallinagh, who has been struggling with a neck problem, back available to provide defensive cover.

But there are question marks over the fitness of the versatile Junior English who admitted his hamstring was at “tearing point”.

Jackman added: “We are putting together a formula that is going to cause Fylde some problems. We will give it our best shot.”
