WORCESTER City’s new management duo John Snape and Lee Hughes are planning to hold a fans’ forum in the coming weeks.

The Blue and Whites have been relegated from Vanarama National League North, but have acted quickly to appoint Snape and Hughes as joint managers.

Snape says he is keen to set up an event where supporters can meet himself and former Premier League striker Hughes as they begin their tenure at Worcester.

“We are looking to hold a forum at a venue in either late May or early June,” Snape said.

“It will be a chance for supporters to come and meet the new managers and welcome Lee to the football club.”

Snape has been handed the job to work alongside the returning Hughes after a three-month stint as caretaker boss.

City’s ex-first team coach and assistant manager failed to beat the drop, registering one win from his 15 games in temporary charge.

But he insists it is important the club who have yet to announce what level they will be playing at next season, look forward.

“It was a difficult end of the season for obvious reasons, but you can’t live in the past,” Snape said.

“You have got to look forward.

“At this club everyone looks in the past a little bit too much.

“We need to focus on what is ahead of us and how we are going to achieve it.”

Hughes is returning to City where he scored 33 goals in 57 appearances before joining relegation rivals AFC Telford United in February.

The former West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City frontman, who turns 41 later this month, will continue to play.

But Snape says that will not take away from his duties off the pitch.

“Lee wants to keep playing, but he has got to look after his body,” Snape added.

“He will be involved in training and help to teach the forwards.

“We are on equal par, so we will both be making decisions when Lee is on or off the pitch.

“It will be a joint effort.”
