WORCESTER City fans' favourite Tyler Weir has agreed to stay with the club despite their drop to the Midland League Premier Division.

The Ledbury-based full-back, 26, was expected to attract attention from other sides during the summer with many of last season's players leaving the Bromsgrove Sporting tenants.

But after their relegation from National League North and the subsequent fall of two more divisions joint managers John Snape and Lee Hughes have still been able to secure the signature of City's player of the season.

Former West Bromwich Albion ace Hughes said: "Tyler is a great all-round footballer and a great person to have around the club.

"He is going to be an asset to the club and will play a massive part in what we want to achieve next season.

"I cannot wait to start working again with Tyler."

Ex-Hereford United and Gloucester City player Weir said: "I am buzzing to be staying.

"There has been a lot of interest this summer but I am happy to still be at Worcester City.

"I want this club to be back where we should be."

Gloucester-born Weir played for City at their old St George's Lane home and can also operate in midfield.

He made 29 appearances last season and first joined City on loan in 2012 before two spells at the club were only split by a period at Gloucester City.
