FORMER Worcester City defender Sam Oji has completed a move to Northern Premier League Premier Division side Hednesford Town.

The 31-year-old centre-back was a regular for City last season, producing several stand-out performances in National League North after an error-strewn start.

He was unable to stop Worcester from avoiding the drop before the club plummeted two further levels after resigning from the National League.

Joint boss John Snape offered Oji the chance to stay at the Blue and Whites as they prepared for life in Midland League Premier Division.

But the ex-Birmingham City youngster, who has been on the books of Doncaster Rovers, Bristol Rovers, Leyton Orient and Hereford United, turned him down in favour of a move to The Pitmen.

Hednesford manager Neil Tooth said: “Sam has been in with us for a few weeks now but because of a small niggle he has not been able to play.

“But he is now fully fit and we are delighted to be able to announce his signing.

“Sam joins from Worcester City and is a dominant centre half who has played pro football for the majority of his career.

“He also brings a wealth of experience to our squad and that was key when getting the deal done.”
