JOHN Snape admitted there was plenty of room for improvement despite Worcester City’s 8-0 demolition job on Quorn.

The contest was not so one-sided until Mark Danks broke the deadlock on 25 minutes but despite having laboured City found an extra gear once they had moved ahead.

In the end, Danks scored twice with Josh Sarmento and Dave Reynolds notching before the break.

All three substitutes – James Baldwin, Lee Hughes and Kyonn Evans – netted after the interval with stand-in skipper Brad Birch scoring Worcester’s seventh.

“We had a few dodgy moments before the first goal,” said joint boss Snape. “That said, Jamie (Smith) had a great chance to pass one in inside the first minute.

“It was even until we got the first but after that we grew into the game, passed it quicker and better and going in four up at half-time was massive for us.

“We started the second half a bit sloppily which is something we will look at again this week because they got in a couple of times down our left side and I didn’t like that.

“Better sides may have punished us but they were physically strong and we had to keep going.

"I think we missed seven or eight other chances and it would have been nice to score them but I couldn’t moan about eight, it was a fantastic win for the club."

On the starring role his substitutes played, Snape added: "We have the type of players on the bench that could start in any side in this league so we are lucky to have them.

“There were some good performances with and without the ball. Tyler Weir was suspended but Hamilton (Chiwara) did OK, he did not look out of place.”

Snape confirmed centre-half Mark Smith had sat out training last Thursday with a thigh problem and was rested as a precaution.
