JOINT-boss John Snape wants “hot prospect” Alex Tomkinson to unleash his potential at Worcester City.

Less than two years ago, the winger hit double figures for both goals and assists with Barwell in the Northern Premier League, two levels higher than City.

That sparked interest from Football League clubs as trials with Birmingham City and Crewe Alexandra followed.

After a less fruitful campaign last season, Tomkinson, 21, was snapped up by City’s Midland League Premier Division rivals Coventry Sphinx where he made 10 appearances before signing on the dotted line after City’s 8-0 victory over Quorn on Saturday.

“Alex was at Barwell a couple of years ago and a very hot prospect,” said Snape.

“We have highlighted how much we like having offensive players, particularly with how the pitch is at Bromsgrove.

“We wanted to add to that side of it with Kyonn (Evans) and Alex comes into the fold now too.

"It will add competition for places, Alex is well aware of where he is and hopefully he can make us better.”
