WORCESTER City have made moves for three goalkeepers – including a hopeful swoop for free agent Nathan Vaughan.

Worcester City: Defender Tom Fishwick set for Coleshill Town return

Joint-boss John Snape revealed he had recently held talks with the former City favourite during the last knockings of his stint with Solihull Moors.

But the 36-year-old stopper announced yesterday (Sunday) that his time at the National League outfit had ended, opening the door for clubs higher up the food chain to express their interest.

Famed for saving a penalty in Worcester’s FA Cup first round proper victory over Coventry City in 2014, Vaughan hit the headlines by scoring for Moors at Torquay United in non-league’s top flight earlier this season.

“We made an approach for Nathan before he left Solihull but now he has gone, he will no doubt have offers on the table that may be very tempting for him,” said Snape.

“From what was said last week, the door has not shut yet but we will have to take it as it comes.

"We are very interested, of course, but we are very aware of the kind of demand there will be for him from higher up.

"It is a slim hope at the minute.”

City cannot speak to the other two potential recruits until the back end of this week but Snape is hoping to land competition for number one Matt Gwynne before Saturday's showdown with Haughmond (3pm).
