GEORGE Forsyth revealed how his switch to Worcester City had signalled a shift in his footballing priorities.

The 20-year-old midfielder spent a month on loan with City earlier in the campaign, making six appearances before returning following the cancellation of his Gloucester City contract by mutual consent.

Forsyth, who spent much of his childhood with Wolves prior to a year at Shrewsbury Town, joined Gloucester from Kidderminster Harriers in the summer.

During his time at Aggborough, the son of former Birmingham, Cheltenham and Harriers midfielder Richard Forsyth was loaned to Halesowen Town and Stratford Town, gaining experience two levels above the tier he plays at for Worcester now.

But with his focus solely on crossing the white line week after week Forsyth insists the drop does not faze him.

“I had signed a contract at Gloucester in the summer but had a couple of clubs interested, Worcester being one of them,” said Forsyth.

“To be honest, I expected to play for Gloucester but sometimes football does not work out the way you plan. I did not play as much as I wanted to and was not really involved there.

“I knew Snapper (joint manager John Snape) was interested and that played a big part in me coming here. He has been great with me and wants me to be a big part of the team.

“Worcester is a massive club, it is bigger than many clubs in higher divisions but for me it is more about making a name for myself, getting a bit of exposure and playing regularly.

“I haven’t played enough football over the past couple of years. I have worried too much about what level I was at or where I was but at the end of the day I just want to be on that pitch. That’s the main thing.”

One of Forsyth’s greatest attributes so far has been his flexibility and while he hopes to cement a midfield berth he has no qualms with shuffling into the backline.

“I would like to nail down my favoured position,” he added. “I am a central midfielder but I don’t mind centre-half and I can do a job at right-back.

“Wherever the manager asks me to play, I’ll play there. I respect him and he respects me so I will enjoy wherever I play as long as I am out there.”

Fourth-placed City host Haughmond in the Midland League Premier Division on Saturday at Bromsgrove's Victoria Ground (3pm).

They are seven points behind new leaders Bromsgrove Sporting with one game in hand.

Sporting were held 3-3 at Westfields last night after a late equaliser from Phil Glover.

In front of 202 fans, Sporting went ahead in the 18th minute through Sean Brain but Fields equalised on the stroke of half-time through Matt Sysum.

After the break Jason Cowley fired home for Sporting only for Mark Magee to level.

Connor Deards then swooped for Bromsgrove in the 78th minute before Glover struck.
