NATHAN VAUGHAN 7
Provided assurance without being overworked.
Came for things with authority and even when he did have a hairy moment with Stuart Hendrie, forced his opponent wide enough for it not to matter.
TYLER WEIR 6
Played ahead of George Forsyth on the right and did well enough on a sticky pitch, digging in and making life difficult while helping City to keep ticking over.
JAMIE SMITH 7
Good defensively and picked decent passes. Stood up to be counted when it mattered, a player that is maturing well.
JORDAN STODDART 7
Put himself in the thick of the battle as always and offered a threat at set-pieces. Helped to mop up one or two ragged moments in the first half and built on that.
MARK SMITH 7
A solid return and another whose presence took the sting out of a Rugby attack that possessed plenty of movement.
NATHAN HAYWARD 7
Kept City moving and again, clever in tight spaces by looking one way and passing another.
STAR MAN – GEORGE FORSYTH 8
Fast becoming City’s first name on the team sheet.
Slotted in at right-back, adding power to attacks as well as covering all of the bases defensively. Won more than his fair share of headers in his own box too.
BRAD BIRCH 7
Was unfortunate not to get rewarded for his trademark driving runs. Another tireless display with no shortage of quality.
JAMES BALDWIN 6
Lots of work rate without catching the breaks. On another day he might have scored a couple but kept getting in there until the end. His time will come.
DAVE REYNOLDS 7
Chances came and went but when the chips were down, City’s top scorer kept his cool. Like Baldwin, could have had a couple but again worked well in testing conditions.
ALEX TOMKINSON 6
Linked up well with Reynolds in particular but could have blotted his copybook with the odd stray pass, particularly the one that set up a Rugby attack just past the hour.
